SubLab XL - Blank window and Ableton crashing

I bought the SubLab XL synth via PluginBoutique and have a license key now, but I didn’t receive any Installer.
The instruction on their website is telling me that I need to download it from my account library. Despite multiple trys I am not able to download it as the download button is sending me straight to their frontpage.

Is it possible to get an offical Installer from FAW where I can activate my license ?

I just need the installer !

Thanks for your help !

Kris

*Edit: I received the installer from PluginBoutique and installed the Plugins in default locations + Standalone. The Standalone is working fine for me. But when I start the VST3 in Ableton…the programm is loading…a blank window is showing up for few seconds…then Ableton is crashing and I am back to Desktop.
I reinstalled the program twice but it didn’t help.

Could you assist me with that ?

Thanks !

What’s your setup Kris?

If you load the standalone, click the gear/bolt icon in the bottom left corner and then click “About”, you can copy your tech specs to the clip board. Do that and then paste what you find here:

Hello,

are there any updates or news regarding the issue? is it a known issue ?

Kris

It wasn’t a known issue until your thread, here. I just tested in Ableton and had the same result; meanwhile, it works well in all other times I have tried it or messed about with it. I will look into a little bit and if I have something to say, I will tell it, which is likely. If not, best of luck sincerely, to FAW getting it sorted.

So far, it is seen that it is a C++ error. “The error code 0xE06D7363 indicates a C++ exception, often related to issues in the code or runtime environment. It typically occurs when an exception is thrown but not caught, leading to application crashes or unexpected behavior.”

Based on other items seen, and the fact that we are both running modern AMD cards, it is VERY likely to be involved in the graphics subsystem, involving this particular module:

atio6axx.dll

For what it is worth, sonible has an intermittent issue of the very same nature, across various newer releases in various products. It’s a JUCE “thing,” and new-version-related, I might suspect. It is related to OpenGL. If you disable OpenGL, the sonible modules refrain entirely from causing CTD (crash-to-desktop.)

@Gavin_FAW You’re welcome, sincerely. If there is anything even newer of interest, I will tell it. Any questions so far, it’s always never a thing. Rock on.

This seems to be your item of interest: atio6axx:atio6axx_GetSettingsBlobsAll+2203F↑j

Perhaps some write of memory without permissions, i.e. “access violation.”

Many thanks for this detailed answer !

But tbh at this point, I’d rather ask for a refund than messing up with my PC system.

Hey @Chris77 thanks for taking the time to dig into this and share what you found. We’re going to take a closer look!

@kriBuya this looks like a pretty common graphics-rendering issue, which can happen (more common on Windows systems) depending on the setup. We have a setting that you can easily turn on/off to help with that.

Could you please try this?

Could you go to C:/Program Files/FAW/SubLabXL

Inside the SubLab XL folder you’ll see this settings.xml file

Right click to open that up with a text editor and change this highlighted line from
false” to: “true

Then save the file, restart Live again and see if that fixes the issue :folded_hands:

Hi Julia,

this works for me. I can open the program now in Ableton without getting kicked.

Glad to hear that it worked for you :raising_hands:
