Please backup your existing SubLabXL folder somewhere safe prior to running the installers. You can find your existing SubLabXL folder at the following locations:
macOS: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/FAW/SubLabXL
Windows: C:/Program Files/FAW/SubLabXL
Stable for me on Cubase Pro 15 and macOS Sierra 26.1. I upgraded my computer from the M1 chip to the M4 Studio chip. It works great! Usually, after installing a plugin, I delete the standalone versions. However, I noticed that this time, the standalone version wasn’t reinstalled. I’ll provide more updates once I’ve used it more frequently!
Hey @fisherking thanks for checking out the beta! At the moment, this SubLab XL beta is not yet updated for Tahoe. Since this is a major OS update with system-level changes, you may run into compatibility issues. We’ll post another update when we can confirm support for Tahoe.
We upgrade both Windows and macOS to the latest JUCE so we got a lot of fixes that comes from that. We also fixed issues with activation where if the server didn’t respond within 10 seconds it would fail…we also improved the noice floor on the master limiter, previously on some processor, very small numbers were hitting the limiter and then creating a small crackle…usually you’d hear it on samples that had long tails with a noise floor.
I updated successfully, and it’s running mostly expected for me on macOS Sequoia in Ableton Live 12.3 newest beta.
One thing (it’s been awhile, I don’t recall if it was always this way): most of the animations are very smooth, but the Tone frequency graph visualization looks choppy, noticeable in contrast to everything else which is polished.
I continue to maintain it’d be great if a -type button could be added to load a random sub and surprise, as there are many more now! Would help with discovering more subs, otherwise it’s always biased towards alphabetical/category.
Hi, I think I had asked for this before.. for me Sublab XL badly needs a search engine… so I can look for patches by name instead of scrolling each bank to find the patch with a specific name that I am looking for.. (and yes I have so many favourited that though that narrows it down, it still could save lots of time with a simple search for a preset by name.
I dont’ recall if I had said this in the initial SubLab XL beta testing, but files (especially my presets) dont’ sound exactly the same in sub lab xl and sublab the original.
They are louder for one in the original Sublab but that isn’t the only difference, Even some of your patches sound different.
^ @zvenx I agree with that, it’s been hard at times to scroll down when I already know the name, or if I save user presets with words I know to look for. Quicker access would be welcome.
I’m noticing an issue where there’s a high-pitched tone when quickly switching between some sub patches. Sometimes the tone gets stuck.
@zvenx we did a total rewrite of the audio engine, they are basically different plugins. Due to that, especially with improvements in X-Sub it can sound different as the phase between the waveforms won’t be exactly the same as in SubLab V1. So when it hits the limiter it might be louder which leads to say more soft clipping.
Generally though, the changes are very small. If there is a marked difference in sound then that is an issue I’ll have a look at. How does that sound?
If its a marked difference then I’ll def have a look….I’ll check the moonlight patch between the two and see what is going on….would you be able to render out an mp3 of both and post to drop box, that would help big time.
