SubLab XL Beta 1.0.5 (Beta 1 Build Date 12/7)

sorry now seeing this… I actually had done that here.

Apparently you have to right click and do save audio.

in a post above, but let me do a proper one..

rsp

Ok here it is..

Moonlight on SubLab, one bar pause, then Moonlight on SubLab XL, one bar off, my own preset, rsp Bass 1 on Sub Lab, one bar silent, then same rsp Bass 1 on SubLab XL.

I have also included the Cubase project…

please note, same midi copied between sublab and sublab xl, except I have to drop sublab XL two octaves to be the same because of my settings..

And my preset bank (pnly has two basses.. it is the first one in the test)

Your site seems very cumbersome with dropbox, but I emailed them all to julie who can pass it on to you.

the cubendo project, the audio, my presets and screen shots of my settings for sublab and sublab xl.

edit from the day after:

Assuming that the PC and Mac version sound the same, I think something got broken in this update with playing SubLab Presets.

Why do I think so? I had updated my mac (which is the one I use 95% of the time since covid days) to this beta and demonstrated above the sound difference between sublab and xl..

I hadn’t updated my PC one yet with this update, and for the hell of it, said let me play the same project before I update..

It is a lot lot lot closer.

Pkease drop the three consecutive warning on your forum.. please.. when I need to add more info the day later and it tells me that, it is very frustrating.. now I have to go put this in the previous post..

rsp

Ok, that’s interesting….

I’ve found something that I think is causing the issue. I’m going to dig a bit deeper…one thing to check is if you look at X-Sub, is it off in SubLab V1 preset and on in SubLab XL v2 preset?

Also something is funky about your Distortion module in this new build.. when I disable it in the rsp Bass 1, they match way more than before..

see this video.. you need to right click on the link and open in new tab or download to see it.

rsp

Yeah I have these both fixed…the issue with importing is down to the xsub not getting the volume set correctly during import.

You might have to import in the presets a second time though, that is the only hassle.

That’s fine… I assume that is a build you haven’t released yet?

The distortion module is now ok too?

rsp

Thanks, I’m back with a new PC and Windows 11.

Looking forward to the new version.. already have my sublab libraries ready on my desktop for reimportation.

Btw I know I will lose my favourites, which reminds me again for a FR for your favourites not to be stored in the patches themselves but in a database (that is OS agnostic as I use both mac and pc).

please and thank you.

rsp

I fixed it so that it doesn’t overwrite any changes to made to the factory packs. So that should preserve the favorites…

Ahh… so when i reimport the Sublab Banks, it wouldn’t erase my favourited info. that is great.

I am moving house and country over the new few days/weeks.

Any idea when we will get that build?

rsp

@zvenx unfortunately when you import it will overwrite those exiting presets that you have favourited. I was referring to the installer on windows not overwriting the factory presets on Windows.

I have fixed the other issues, so no more pitched sound from the distortion and also when you do import v1 packs they will now sound correct in XL.

Got ya.. Any idea when that build will be available?

rsp

just got an email, new build. but the mac link gives me this:

EDIT: download link is now working! 10:00 AM EST. will install and test out today…

EDIT2: 40 minutes in, and all is working well here (at least, the things i need and/or tested)… nice, considering i’m running the tahoe OS betas…) :+1:

Hi Julia,

thank you for still having me in the beta group.

On Cubase 15 / AMD Ryzen and an intel i9 PC it runs very smooth. Only thing I found so far:

  • Changing the modes of DISTORTION results in an either high pitched tone or shuts down the sound completely, especially using OVERDRIVE.

I have the feeling you changed the algo for the filters and improved them. It’s been a while since I last tested SubLab. I think, the filters now are better tuned when the resonance is cranked up. I found that always to be the weak point of the plugin. Great!

Have a great time programming.

Best Regards
Matthias Klein

Hey Matthias,

That should be fixed in the latest Windows Beta….I’ve uploaded the links at the top of the page, can you check if the distortion overdrive is now working?

Hi Gavin you saw my note above? Moonlight and a few other random factory stuff, when reimported, sound close enough for me, but my two presets (I have only done two)… are closer but not quite there… I had sent them in the email I sent to julie for you and had included them above, I can resend them if you wish..

rsp

ok, I’ll follow up with Julia :+1:

or I can email them to you directly if she doesn’t have them still.
