SubLab XL Beta 1.0.8

Hey @SubLabXL-Beta-Tester,

We’ve got a new version of SubLab XL for testing.

On the features front, we added search to the preset browser, a new JP8000 mode to the super oscillator and we also made big improvements to preset load times (way faster!) and generally it should be a lot more refined when changing presets, so less clicks and pops.

You can also now drop the full pack bundle zip onto the open preset browser and it will import all the pack automatically.

Below are a list of bug fixes and features added in the build, I’ve tagged who ever mentioned them, if you can check the new build it would be much appreciated

SubLab XL 1.0.8 beta 1 is ready for testing. Thanks to everyone who reported the issues below; the @ names are the people who flagged them.

New

  • Preset search. A search field at the top of the preset browser, searching by preset name. (@zvenx, @colacola)
  • JP-8000 mode for the super saw. A switch in the super saw options that follows the original hardware, including a random start phase on every note. The classic super saw is unchanged.
  • Drag and drop pack import. Drop a pack on SubLab XL to import it, or drop a .zip with several packs, or several packs at once, and they import with a progress box. (@NDRE28)
  • Sample previews while arrowing. With the sample list open, the up/down keys preview each sample. Settings > Interface Settings > Play Sample Previews turns it off.
  • LFO display and blob designer brought up to the Notes versions.
  • New switches in Settings > Audio Settings: Filter DC Fix (on), Declick Attack (off), Use Classic Macros (off). More on these below.

Fixed

  • Patch edits lost on reload. Editing a knob that a macro controls, saving as a new patch and reopening the session brought the old values back. Saved values now load as saved; a knob you edit directly comes off its macro until the macro passes it again. If you prefer the old behaviour, turn on Use Classic Macros. (@nickrjensen)
  • Pops and clicks from the filter, even with every channel muted. The filter’s feedback left a DC offset on its output that the envelope turned into a pop on every note, scaling with resonance and dry/wet. Fixed, with self-oscillation at high resonance kept. Filter DC Fix off gives you the 1.0.7 filter back. (@patterns, @goo_pudz, @burn.money.beats, @RPH)
  • Clicks on short sample attacks with “Only apply Decay of ADSR to Sampler” on. The filtered sample path still followed the amp envelope’s jumps; those are smoothed now. Declick Attack adds a softer ramp for very short attacks on retriggered notes. (@luciancalinbalintoni, @themadpad, @darsmile)
  • Sample preview selected the sample. The speaker icon now plays the preview without loading the sample or closing the list. (@oceanxxsounds)
  • Preview crash. Clicking a preview could crash the plugin, seen as an AU crash in Logic. Fixed.
  • Signed-out plugin played a loud tone. An unactivated plugin passed the host’s buffer through; it’s now silent.
  • Click when changing preset while a note plays. Notes now fade over 20 ms instead of being cut.
  • First note after a preset change sounded wrong. Several modules kept smoothing from the previous preset’s values; they now reset properly when the new preset lands.
  • Phase Align Engines only took effect after reloading the plugin; it now applies immediately.
  • Master limiter creaked while moving its slider. Fixed.
  • Faster preset loading. The sample list is no longer rebuilt on every load.
  • Blue scrollbars and stock fonts in alert windows replaced; offline renders in hosts without a playhead no longer crash; activation dialog and messages brought in line with Notes.

Hey @Gavin_FAW I hate to report it but basses aren’t playing with audio with certain presets within the Pedalz Module. It’s the only module that’s having issues. Even though I don’t use it often it’s still a bug for someone else that relies on it.

100% and thanks for checking…I’ll have a look right now :+1:

Ok…so spent some more time looking into it @oceanxxsounds…can you tell me the names of the exact presets? Also if you go to the about page by clicking the gear wheel/nut down in the bottom left corner, you can copy your system specs which might help me narrow it down. Its the highlighted “Copy Tech Specs to Clipboard”…if you can PM me those much appreciated :folded_hands:

Hello!

Today, I’ve installed SubLab XL v1.0.8 Beta 1.
The ability to select multiple sound packs and to import them all at once, still isn’t there (.subxlpack) & (.subpack).

I’ve created an archive folder, using 7-zip, which contains all of the sound packs that I own, but SubLab XL isn’t seeing that archive folder at all.
So, I had to import some new sound packs, manually, one by one.
Even the ability to remember the location of the last imported pack is missing from SubLab XL (I have to keep on browsing through my entire PC all over again, for each pack that I want to import).

PS: I hope that the non-Beta version of SubLab XL v1.0.8 will solve this issue once & for all.

Someone mentioned you in a post.

Hey @NDRE28

First, thanks for having a look.

What happens for me here is that I get the pack bundle zip and I drop it onto the interface and then it imports all the packs at once directly from the file I downloaded. Are you seeing below at any stage?

Hi!

I did not know about this method.

I opened SubLab XL in my DAW (FL Studio), then clicked on the arrow and started browsing into my PC for sound packs.

I’ll give that method a try, today.

Hi!

It is working!

That’s great news!

 It’s a new feature, everyone was having to import each pack one by one using the menu…now its jump download and drop into SubLab XL

Gavin, how can I download the Notes beta?

Hey! Here’s the latest Notes beta. We’ve released this update now so you can also download the latest installers inside your FAW Account.
