Hi,
when I try to open a project I made with my Mac on my windows machine, using Notes VST3, Ableton says it cannot find the VST in my system (but I have it installed and working).
I think this is for a mismatch on VST3 ID between Mac and Windows.
Can you please fix it?

This is becoming a big problem for me since I cannot really use Notes at the time due to projects incompatibility!
We’re trying to figure out a solution.
The issue is that we set everything correctly on macOS and PC, so the plugin ID etc should be identical, but the the one thing that was different was the “VST3_CAN_REPLACE_VST2” setting.
Even with the exact same ID on mac and pc, if you then have the “VST3_CAN…” set to 1 on mac and 0 on pc, it breaks everything. If we change them now, it means it will change the ID for everyone and there DAW projects on the OS we change will be broken.
For a fix…the Windows plugin would need to match the ID set on macOS…that would allow you to save on mac then open on Windows. I’m still trying to figure out how to do this.

I understand the struggle, but I think the more you wait the worse it is going to be (cause more and more people are gonna buy and use your plugin).
Maybe for now a double version (on windows or mac) is going to be a good solution, so one version can exist just for compatibility for older projects.
Maybe you can give it another name (VST3 name, like “Notes_Old”) cause if I’m not mistaken it doesn’t matter for plugin recall. And probably you can include it as an option when you install the plugin, so new users can just skip that version completely.
Anyways, please keep us posted on this, I hope you can find a solution soon!
