FAQ/Guidelines

Who is this community for?

This is where people who make music with Future Audio Workshop instruments (Notes, SubLab, SubLab XL and Circle²) meet each other and the developer team. Ask for help, report bugs, suggest features, share sounds and tricks, or just talk shop. The people who build the plugins read and reply here.

Be good to each other

  • Be kind. Everyone here is learning something, from first-time producers to seasoned engineers. Answer the way you’d want to be answered.
  • Be respectful. Argue with ideas, not with people. Keep it constructive.
  • Be welcoming. No harassment, hate speech, personal attacks or trolling.
  • Keep it clean. Nothing obscene, nothing spammy.

Please avoid name-calling, replying to someone’s tone instead of what they said, and contradicting people just to contradict them. If you’re unsure whether something crosses the line, assume it does.

Feedback, not rants

Criticism is welcome. It’s how the plugins get better. Tell us what isn’t working, in which plugin, and what you expected instead. Specific, solution-minded posts get fixed; vague rants don’t help anyone and may be removed.

Keep it accurate

Don’t post claims about our plugins (or anyone else’s) that you can’t back up, whether about features, pricing or performance. This forum is public and indexed by search engines, so wrong information spreads.

No rage-bait

No inflammatory titles, exaggerated claims or posts designed to start a fight. If you have a real concern, say it plainly and we’ll deal with it.

Write your own posts

Posts generated entirely by AI will likely be removed. It’s fine to use tools to tidy up your writing, but the post should be your own experience and thoughts. Bots will be silenced.

Sharing your music and work

We love hearing what you make with our instruments. Share tracks, presets, chord progressions and sound design tricks in the relevant product category.

If you sell something (sample packs, presets, courses), be part of the community first: help people, answer questions, join discussions. When you do share something you sell, say so up front, and only post it where it genuinely fits the conversation. Dropping links to your products in other people’s threads is closer to spam than participation.

See something off?

Don’t reply to bad behaviour; flag it. Replying only feeds it. When enough flags come in, someone from the FAW team will step in.

Future Audio Workshop may remove content or accounts to keep this space healthy.

Making great posts

Search first

Someone may already have hit your problem. A quick search can get you an answer straight away. If you still post, mention what you found so people don’t suggest the same things again.

Help us help you

The more detail you give, the faster we can help. For bugs and technical problems, please include:

  • Which plugin and version (e.g. Notes 1.1.4, SubLab XL 1.0.6)
  • Your DAW and its version (e.g. Ableton Live 12.1, Logic Pro 11)
  • Your operating system (macOS or Windows, and version)
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
  • Steps to reproduce, plus a screenshot, short screen recording or audio clip if you can

A clear, specific title helps too. “SubLab XL crashes when loading Pedals in FL Studio 21 (Windows 11)” will get answered much faster than “Help!!”.

Pick the right category

Post in the category for the plugin you’re asking about (Notes, SubLab XL, SubLab or Circle²). It puts your post in front of the right people.

One topic per thread

Keep each thread to one issue. Please don’t revive old threads with unrelated problems, or steer a conversation off course.

Adding to existing threads

Got a fix or tip that might help someone? Add it to their thread.

Seeing the same issue as a recent, unsolved thread? Add your details there: plugin version, DAW and OS often help us find the cause.

If the thread is more than a couple of months old, start a new one with your own details and link to the old one. Plugins and DAWs change quickly, and “same here” on an old thread doesn’t give us much to go on.

Response times

The FAW team reads the forum and replies as quickly as we can, and other members often help too. Please give it a few days before bumping a post, and if you’ve had help here, pass it on by helping someone else.

About @mentions

Mentioning someone sends them a notification (and sometimes an email), so use it sparingly. Don’t @mention people who aren’t already in the thread. A good title in the right category gets more attention than pinging individuals. It’s fine to use mentions to make clear who you’re replying to in a busy thread, or to credit someone whose idea you’re building on.

Keep your licence safe

Never post your activation codes

Don’t share licence or activation codes, order numbers, account passwords or other personal details in public posts. Anyone could use them.

Activation problems? You can reset your activation slots, register codes bought from other shops (such as Plugin Boutique) and download your installers yourself under My Account → Activation Codes on futureaudioworkshop.com. If that doesn’t sort it, contact support privately rather than posting your code here.

If you’ve posted something by mistake, edit your post straight away. If you can no longer edit it, flag it or message a moderator and we’ll remove it.

Respect intellectual property

Only post what you have the right to share. No cracked plugins, pirated sample packs or shared paid presets, and no links to them.

Only link to official downloads

Download FAW plugins from futureaudioworkshop.com, or from your account with the store you bought from (such as Plugin Boutique). Links to unofficial download sites will be removed. This keeps everyone safe.
