Notes Beta 1 [1.0.2] [Build Date 01/09/26]

Our first beta for the 1.0.2 update is ready!

We’ve got the macOS installer ready now, Windows coming soon:
:link: macOS Beta 1 Installer

Here are the changes included in this beta:

  1. Fixed: clicks in sampler when in monopoly voice mode (finger pointing down icon)
  2. “Daw Edit Mode” added to Note Settings
When ON: black keys activate transformers while held/sustained for people who prefer to draw in their MIDI.
When OFF: tap the black keys to turn on transformers for people who prefer to play live on their keyboard.
  3. Chord mode ON/OFF is no longer shared across multiple instances of Notes
  4. You can now easily drag MIDI chords out of The Lab into your DAW
  5. When you add chords from The Lab, the chords now use the session key
  6. When you open and close the interface, your chords in The Lab stay in place
  7. When you drop MIDI into the Chord Sampler, it now adds the chords from the MIDI file

Please check it out and let us know if you run into any bugs :folded_hands:

Thanks for the improvements and fixing some bugs that personally affected me! I’m noticing these issues:

(1) I can’t seem to get “Export to MIDI” to export ALL 7 chords. E.g., if I use it with “Digital EP”, then I get a “Honeydew.mid” which I drag back in (and disable chord mode), but it’s only the first 4 chords. So how do I export the entire sequence?

(2) Clicking on some % controls for the first time abruptly changes the value to 25% or 50% or 100%, even if I haven’t moved anything. This is noticeable on Mix tab effects like the blue + orange Mix values. It doesn’t always happen, but often enough to be annoying.

(3) The Delay overall feedback time does NOT scale as expected. This is noticeable if you use sync to tempo with the overall feedback time. E.g., set Time Sig to 1/8 and set Fback to 100% — I’d expect it to keep echoing, but it doesn’t. Even if BPM sync is off, Fback 100% decays quickly.

(4) I still notice audible clicks, this time in the synth engine. E.g., choose “Dead Wrong” and mute the “Sampler” layer, then rapidly play multiple overlapping notes.

(5) This “Don’t show me…” is kind of confusing because it’s not obvious it’s a UI control, maybe it could be a checkbox control that reads something like “:white_check_mark: Show help tips when I hover” or even briefer “:white_check_mark: Show hover help tips”

Ok, we’ll go through all these and try and get them into the next beta release.

…just following up @TORLEY, I’ve fixed the midi export.

On the values jumping on the sliders, can you check the next time it happens and see if there are macros attached?

And I can not still export transformed midi file but only the original form (Not transformed). Then Why does it say Output Transformer MIDI? Or are there any specific way to export transformed midi except using “Export to MIDI” I really want to know this feature.

Thankya!

Interestingly this led me to notice ANOTHER problem.

So to answer your first question, YES there are macros attached. E.g., Mix that jumped to 50% here is attached to Macro A.

Furthermore, I’ve noticed a CONFLICT in recording automation Macro.

Try moving the blob in both directions for a patch like “Combo Keys”, and you’ll see Ableton registers it as “Macro A” and an individual control RATHER than the whole “Macro B”.

When I move the separate Macro B knob, then it records “Macro B”. But it is NOT doing it for

Also how do I find the Notes manual from the UI? That help popup doesn’t list it.

Hey @TORLEY thanks for letting us know, we’ll check out what’s going on with these macros.

Update: we have Beta 2 ready now so I’m closing this thread.

Please check out Beta 2 and give us feedback :link: here.
